Alan Turing’s wide ranging career encompassed a resolution of the German U boat problem, thus shortening World War II (and saving thousands of lives) and the creation of the “Turing Machine,” the conceptual basis of our entire system of computer science and the inspiration for Tibor Radó’s Busy Beaver Game. The quote indicates that Turing even envisioned artificial intelligence.
